Goat milk is touted as a superfood because it is:
  • Easily digestible
  • Fewer allergenic proteins
  • High in calcium
  • High in fatty acids
  • Low in cholesterol (even decreases LDL or bad cholesterol)
  • Natural anti-inflammatory properties

Does goat milk boost immune system?

Goat milk is great for digestion and because 70% of our immune function depends on our digestive system it helps to boost our immunity! It also contains selenium which is a key factor in boosting white blood cells and platelets!

Why is goat milk so expensive?

With goat milk being the most commonly consumed milk worldwide, you would think it would be very affordable. In developing countries families keep and care for a family milk goat which is much easier to care for than a cow. In the United States there are huge commercial dairy farms that can purchase cheap grain that is subsidized by government funds. Therefore, with the mass production and cheap feed, the price and convenience of cow milk is to hard to pass up.
With that being said, goat milk dairies are not as prevalent so the old economics principal of "supply and demand" drives up the goat milk price. Lastly, the average goat does not produce as much milk as a cow so it is harder to get more goat milk for less when it is more work to actually get the same amount of milk you may get from a cow.

What does goat's milk taste like?

So many people wonder what goat milk tastes like because they want to try it before buying! Which is totally understandable! We have done a few blind taste tests with friends and family and hands down our Nigerian Dwarf fresh goat milk won!
Is that a definitive answer? Would that be true for a different type of goat? What about goat milk you can purchase in a store? All of those questions would have many different answers!

If you have ever experienced bad tasting goat milk then you might have a hard time believing that it can be so sweet and rich and creamy! The most important factor with fresh tasting goat milk is proper management of the goat and proper handling of the fresh milk!

If a goat is eating strong flavored feed or greens, is in close proximity with a male goat, or if the milk is not immediately refrigerated-- the milk will taste "off" or even "goaty".

Is goat milk good in coffee?

Goat milk tastes delicious in coffee and has many more added benefits than any creamer you may use! I have always used cow's milk in my coffee with a little sugar, but when I switched to goat milk I could not even tell a difference. Adding it to your coffee is a subtle way to incorporate more goat milk benefits into your diet.

Why is goat milk so creamy?

The reason goat milk is so creamy is that the fat globules are so small that the cream does not separate to the top the way it does with cow's milk. The cream remains throughout the milk (naturally homogenized) which results in a much creamier consistency.
